Did you know there was an Evaluate Your Life Day? I usually have one around my birthday and at other intervals through the year, but there is actually a day designated to it! I like this holiday! The idea behind it is to evaluate your life and make sure you’re headed in the right direction.

I like to break life down in to 4 parts or layers: Mental/Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Spiritual. It’s easier for me having these four main categories. Then I can just check in and see how I’m doing, here goes.

Overall I am pleased with how things are going, but there is definitely room for improvement. Mentally I am doing great. I have been reading, taking courses, and creating to expand my mind. As a creative I’m always thinking! Seriously like always!! I made a commitment to myself to get out and socialize more. I’m so consumed with coaching that I don’t make enough time for socializing outside of my family. Financially, I have set some new goals for myself. I definitely want to increase my business income. Spiritually I am doing great. I make time each day for prayer and to lift up my spirit.

My biggest area for change is physically. I really should get out more! I also need to do better with sleeping. I have been focusing on health and wellness a lot lately and everything I come across mentions sleep. This is challenging with a little one. If you’ve been following then you know Little Savvi keeps me super busy and on the move!

Working full-time, being a mom, and growing a business is exhausting mentally and physically. Throw in a busy, busy toddler, and well….I don’t get enough sleep. I know that if I am not getting enough sleep I won’t be able to function properly and that can throw things off across the board.

I chose to improve my sleeping habits because sleep affects my mind, my relationships, and my energy levels. If I don’t sleep I can lose out on money and neglect important things like my spiritual practice. As I write this I’m fighting sleep!

There are so many reasons why you aren’t getting enough sleep. One of the biggest culprits, our phones, tablets, laptops and other devices. I know I spend a lot of time looking at screens. Right before bed the light is distracting and prevents the body from going into it’s natural sleep state.

Evaluate Your Life Day, Sleeping Habits

Another thing that keeps me up at night is thinking! A creative mind is a busy mind!! A good nighttime routine can help calm a busy mind. I like to journal before bed, pray, and meditate. I have a nice soothing blend of essential oils I burn that produce a nice calming effect. Some nights when it’s hard to turn my brain off I find myself reaching for my phone. I’ve gotten out of that habit because it only makes things worse, so I will begin to meditate and even put a drop of lavender oil on my pillow to help me rest.

Tips to Sleep Better

Once I even out my sleeping habits I know that other areas of my life will fall in line. Sleeping has a big impact on our overall health and wellness. When I am well rested I perform better. I’m happier and healthier. So thanks to Casper I have some great tips on improving my sleep and getting better rest.
